Dear Wrestling Coach,
As we begin preparing for the 36th Annual WRAL
Invitational Wrestling Tournament, we’d like to invite you and
your team to participate. It will really help me if you can give
me your reply of yes, no or maybe no later than April 22 – after
that date I will compete the field with other teams.
We
will be wrestling Friday afternoon and Saturday, December 14-15,
2007, at Athens Drive High School in Raleigh NC.
Our tradition is to have some of the best teams
from a wide region - in the past we’ve had teams from SC, VA, GA,
W.VA, PA, NJ and LA. The WRAL is sponsored by the Capitol
Broadcasting Company.
At least nine of last years WRAL wrestlers won
their state championships and over 50 others placed! We are
planning on 35 teams. We will invite the top NC dual &
individual teams, plus the top half of the field from last years
WRAL, including: Parkland (WRAL & 3A champs), Riverside (WRAL
& 4A runnerup), Jack Britt (WRAL 3rd & 4A 4th), Enka (3A
3rd), Mt. Tabor (4A 3rd) and Bandys (1A 3rd), and a variety of
good out of state teams.
There is NO ENTRY FEE and you’re usually able to
get motel rooms for about $55 for 4 to a room (our schedule will
allow most traveling teams to spend only one night.) We plan to
weigh-in at 1:45 pm, have speedy scratch meeting, then start
wrestling on time and stay on schedule.
